How to clean your jewelry.

I like my pieces to be clean and shiny. But I also like to wear them everyday so I have to clean them once in a while.
There’s several methods to clean your silver or gold jewelry at home with everyday products.
Let’s see how you can do it (these methods don’t obviously apply to fast-fashion pieces. For those, go back to the shop and buy another one!).

SILVER
Water, Foil and Salt
An easy way to clean your silver jewelry is to mix water and salt and add some foil strips. Put some hot water in a bowl and mix it with salt, stir until it’s completely dissolved. Put in the bowl also some strips of foil then add your silver jewelry that have to stay in there for about 5 mins. Once you see the shine restored, remove the jewelry from the solution and rinse it with water. Voila!

Toothpaste
Wet your silver piece with water and then rub it with some fluoride toothpaste (the white one). Let it sit for a couple of minutes then rinse with water. If needed, repeat the process. Dry with a cloth until it shines.

GOLD
Liquid dish detergent
Put a few drops of dish detergent in lukewarm water (not hot!). Soak the gold pieces for 20-30 minutes. Scrub each piece with a very soft toothbrush. Rinse them with warm water and dry them with a soft cloth.

Beer
This method is good to get the shine back in your solid gold pieces. Rub a cloth soaked in beer over the pieces. Then use a second cloth to dry. Have you ever tried some DIY cleaning methods? Let me know so I can share them with the world.
